About the course
This course is aimed at anyone wishing to paint in watercolours - complete beginners are most welcome.
As it will be winter/early spring, we'll be painting subjects indoors, mainly from photographic reference or still life. Most weeks there will be a short practical demonstration, followed by plenty of time to work at your own pace with as much help and guidance as you would like. I try to focus on the painting, keeping drawing to a minimum (although there will necessarily be some drawing involved).
Over the previous seven years many people have found the course helpful, relaxed and fun.
We'll practice various watercolour techniques through painting a range of different subjects. You’ll learn to paint buildings, landscapes, still life and architectural details.
We'll look at ways of achieving dramatic skies, realistic stone, trees and creating contrast with light and shade.
We'll also touch on the different types of paper, paint and brushes available and the differences between them.
The main language will be English, but if you can forgive my French, I would welcome any French speakers.
Some work from previous watercolour courses
