*** Update (22/5/21): Just one place left on each day ***
Starting 1st or 2nd of June 2021 and running over five weekly afternoons. Sketch, draw and paint in one of France’s ‘most beautiful villages’ with local artist Jon Sephton as your guide.
Complete beginners welcome!
To comply with current covid-19 regulations, places are limited to 5 people per course (total group size is six including your tutor). All work will be outdoors.
A five week course (afternoons from 13:30 to 16:30), from Tuesday 1st June 2021 to 29th June 2021 OR from Wednesday 2nd June 2021 to 30th June 2021.
Come along and learn or practice sketching techniques in pencil, inks and watercolours with as much (or as little) help, tips and advice as you’d like from me, Jon.
You’ll be able to try out ways of drawing with different media and learn about proportion, perspective and shading. We’ll be outside in the fresh air, using my gallery in the centre of Monflanquin as a base - and somewhere to get refreshments half-way through the afternoon.
You’re guaranteed plenty of personal attention as numbers will be limited to a maximum of five people per course.
Above all, the course is about having fun and getting enjoyment from gaining new skills or practicing this fascinating hobby.
My approach is to encourage and develop your drawing, sketching and painting abilities in a friendly and positive way. My firm belief is that "everyone can draw" given positive encouragement and support. Past classes have been friendly and laid-back with participants encouraged to go at their own pace. Many complete beginners have discovered a new and enjoyable pastime through previous courses.
The main language will be English, but if they can forgive my French, I would welcome any French speakers.
I’m proposing two identical courses over five afternoons of activity on Tuesday afternoons from 1st June 2021 to 29th June 2021 OR Wednesday afternoons from 2nd June 2021 to 30th June 2021, from 13:30 to 16:30 with a refreshment break around half way through the afternoon.
To ensure a high level of personal attention and to comply with anticipated covid restrictions, numbers will be limited to a maximum of 5 people and all activity will take place outdoors.
We’ll look at ways to produce quick observational drawings of buildings, landscapes and people and develop those skills using pencil, markers and watercolour. You’ll soon find yourself looking at things in new ways and starting to develop a style of your own.
We’ll be based around my art gallery in the central square of the village, but sketching outside around the village - just the tonic after the strange times we’ve had so far!
There’s so much of interest hidden round every corner of the ancient streets of Monflanquin, it makes an ideal focus to get to grips with sketching.
The course cost includes a set of materials ideal for sketching:
This set of materials alone is worth over 37€ ! (please note actual items may change depending on availability, but will be of the same or higher value)
I have a good supply of pencils, erasers and sharpeners which you are free to borrow, so if you’re a complete beginner don’t worry.
The cost includes:
- Five afternoons art tuition with me. I’m on-hand all the time from 13:30 - 16:30
- Set of materials as listed above.
- Use of pencils, erasers and limited stocks of other basic art equipment.
- Mid-afternoon refreshments: tea, coffee or bottled mineral water. If you prefer herbal tea or another drink, please bring it with you.
Cost including all the above: 100€ per person TTC. Payable on the first day by cash, credit card or cheque.
