Update 30/1/23 - one place available.

Learn the basics of working with acrylic paint and how I believe they are the simplest and most effective way for a beginner to learn how to paint successfully.

Whether you want to learn to use acrylic paint, practice, improve your skills or gain confidence, I am sure this course will have something for you.

One afternoon a week for six weeks.

About the course

Through a series of paintings (as time allows) you’ll discover how to paint in a semi-realistic/impressionist style with me, professional artist Jon Sephton.

Using acrylic paint can achieve results very similar to oil paint, but with easier handling, cleaning of brushes, quicker drying times and no unpleasant odours.

Acrylic paints are very versatile, but I’ll be using them in a traditional style, not unlike oil painting. I focus on using and applying the paint, rather than drawing, so no need to worry if you feel you ‘can’t draw’.

I hope everyone will take away paintings they can be proud of. If you participated in previous years' successful courses we will be using different subjects for this course.

The course is friendly, informal and, I hope, fun.

Most weeks there will be a short practical demonstration, followed by plenty of time to work at your own pace with as much help and guidance as you would like.

We will work on the same subject together, mainly from photographs. It is anticipated that some paintings may take two or three sessions so there will be plenty of time to work at your own pace with as much help and guidance as you would like.

The main language is English, but if they can forgive my French, I welcome any French speakers.
