Starting 17th August 2020 and running over five consecutive days. Sketch, draw and paint in one of France’s ‘most beautiful villages’ with local artist Jon Sephton as your guide.
A five day course (afternoons from 13:30 to 16:30), running from Monday 17th August 2020 to Friday 21st August 2020.
Come along and learn or practice sketching techniques in pencil, inks and watercolours with as much (or as little) help, tips and advice as you’d like from me, Jon.
You’ll be able to try out ways of drawing with different media and learn about proportion, perspective and shading. We’ll be outside in the fresh air, using my gallery in the centre of Monflanquin as a base - and somewhere to get refreshments half-way through the afternoon.
You’re guaranteed plenty of personal attention as numbers will be limited to a maximum of eight people.
Above all, the course is about having fun and getting enjoyment from gaining new skills or practicing this fascinating hobby.
I’m proposing five afternoons of activity from Monday 17th August 2020 to Friday 21st August 2020, from 13:30 to 16:30 with a refreshment break around half way through the afternoon.
To ensure a high level of personal attention, numbers will be limited to a maximum of 8 people.
We’ll look at ways to produce quick observational drawings of buildings, landscapes and people and develop those skills using pencil, markers and watercolour. You’ll soon find yourself looking at things in new ways and starting to develop a style of your own.
We’ll be based around my art gallery in the central square of the village, but sketching outside around the village - just the tonic after the strange year we’ve had so far!
There’s so much of interest hidden round every corner of the ancient streets of Monflanquin, it makes an ideal focus to get to grips with sketching. We’ll meet at another location on Thursday as the village has both it’s morning market and evening ‘producers’ market that day, meaning it can get a little congested.
I have a good supply of pencils, erasers and sharpeners, but in addition you might like to bring along a fineliner pen and/or a small watercolour set with a couple of brushes. I’ll send a suggested equipment list nearer the time, so if you’re a complete beginner don’t worry.
Sketching is very much about ‘keeping it simple’ - and inexpensive!
The cost includes:
- Five afternoons art tuition with me. I’m on-hand all the time from 13:30 - 16:30
- Seawhite A5 sketchbook. Perfect for most media and small enough to slip in a bag.
- Pencils, erasers and limited stocks of other basic art equipment.
- Mid-afternoon refreshments: tea, coffee or bottled mineral water. If you prefer herbal tea or another drink, please bring it with you.
Cost including all the above: 80€ per person TTC. Payable on the first day by cash, credit card or cheque.
