New Course for Winter 2019
Drawing The Human Figure
A 5 week course. We will concentrate purely on drawing and painting the (clothed) human figure.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience, you can work at your own level with as much (or as little) guidance as you like. If you’d just like the company of a regular drawing event, that’s fine too.
Some work by members of the previous course
We will usually start with some quick warm-up sketches, then progress to some longer poses. You’ll soon learn how much detail you can include for different length poses. Your model will always be clothed.
After a break, we will generally do some longer poses - thirty minutes or so.
I will suggest a different technique each week which you can choose to experiment with or not. The idea is not always to produce beautiful finished work, so you needn’t be too worried about getting it ‘right’. These different ways of working help to train your ability to observe the figure accurately.
The class is about practice, refinement and developing a style. Hopefully, you will learn and improve every time you observe a figure.
The main language will be English, but if you can forgive my French, I would welcome any French speakers.
Dates & Venue
The course will run for 5 weeks on Tuesday mornings, starting on the 5th February 2019 and finishing on the 5th March 2019.
The class runs from 09:30 to 12:30 with a short break for tea/coffee around 11:00. The room will be open from around 09:10 if you would like to get a tea/coffee first.
The venue will be 29 rue Sainte-Marie, Monflanquin. Tea and coffee will be provided, but if you prefer fruit/herbal teas etc, please bring whatever you prefer.
The price of the course includes white paper, charcoal, pencils, erasers and a range of hard pastels. You are welcome to bring any other materials you wish to use.
Easels and drawing boards will also be available.
To provide a good level of personal attention and to avoid overcrowding I am limiting the number of places to 6 people per course.
The cost of the five week course will be 70€ per person, payable at the first session, which includes tuition, materials, room hire and refreshments.
To Reserve Your Place
Places will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
In case there are more requests than places, I’ll keep a waiting list.
Please note that sending an email doesn’t guarantee a place - I will email you back by return to confirm.
