Always wanted to draw, but don’t know where to start or thought you ‘can’t draw’? Bought some materials, but lack the confidence to get them out of the wrapper?
Drawing is a skill that can be learnt by anyone with a little practice, encouragement and determination.
For this course we’ll focus on working in a larger format, encouraging bigger, broader, more expressive and confident drawings. If you’re a complete beginner or if you came on last year’s course, but would like to try drawing on a larger scale, I hope you’ll get a lot from it (although please note the course content will mostly follow last year’s).
The course will be informal and, I hope, fun. There is usually a short presentation or practical demonstration, followed by plenty of time to work at your own pace. There is a progressive structure, so each week aims to introduce different things to try out.
We’ll be working in pencil, graphite, ink and charcoal to give plenty of time to grasp the basics of drawing and try out new materials.
The main language is English, but if they can forgive my French, I would welcome any French speakers.
Dates & Venue
The course will run for 10 weeks on a Tuesday morning from 09:30 to 12:30 with a short break for tea/coffee around 11:00. The course will start on 19/9/2017 and finish on 21/11/2017.
The venue will be Galerie JS (60 Rue St Pierre, Monflanquin). The gallery will be closed to the public whilst the course is running. Tea and coffee will be provided, but if you prefer fruit/herbal teas etc, please bring whatever you prefer.
In a change from previous courses (due to the larger paper sizes needed) I will provide all paper and drawing materials. Some easels will be available, but if you have your own please bring it along. You are of course welcome to bring any of your own materials should you wish.
To provide a high level of personal attention and to avoid overcrowding, the number of places is limited to 8 people. The cost of the ten week course will be 110€ per person, payable in advance - the small cost increase is a contribution towards materials. Places will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
